Cumberland Trace Legal Services provides free
legal services in civil matters to people who cannot afford a private attorney.
Our Mission
The mission of Cumberland Trace Legal
Services, Inc. is to assist and enable low income families, elderly, disabled and other
vulnerable individual in South Central Kentucky resolve legal problems that are barriers
to self-sufficiency, and to provide these individual an opportunity for an improved
quality of life.
Agency Profile
 | Legal Assistance - Program attorneys
and paralegals assist low income clients in a variety of civil legal matters designed to
help clients obtain long-term self-sufficiency. Services include establishment of
child support and custody, assistance in employment cases, housing matters, and consumer
fraud cases. |
| Domestic Violence Legal Assistance -
Assists victims of domestic violence address emergency legal needs and helps
victims overcome barriers to remaining free of violent relationships |
| Benefits Counseling - Helps elderly and
disabled persons who need assistance applying for and obtaining public benefits. |
| Volunteer Attorney Program - This
Program promotes and coordinates the volunteer efforts of private attorneys who assist low
income clients. |
| Long Term Care Ombudsman - This Program
strives to ensure that institutionalized elderly and disabled people have the resources
they need to achieve their potential, and addresses problems which are barriers to a high
quality of life. |
Cumberland Trace Legal Services, Inc. is
unable to represent all low income people who need legal assistance and targets resources
towards cases which affect low income families, children, victims of domestic violence,
and elderly people. Priority is also given to those with emergency and critical
needs.
